After spending countless hours musing and pining over numerous DIY blogs, I have decided it's time to try it myself. Most blogs I follow make it all look oh-so easy and effortless ("Look at this new bookshelf I made to hold my 1000+ books! Only took some wood, a hammer and twenty minutes!").
I can promise that my less-than-crafty self will be attempting these projects for the first time. Hence the blog name: First Time Design.
Things I can promise: mistakes, disasters, crooked nails, hopelessly knotted thread, clumpy paint jobs, lop-sided furniture, super-glued-fingers...
But, no matter the perils, I will persist. My goal is 50 project in 52 weeks (which comes out to about a project a week for one whole year.)
I figured I should have a beginning list to outline what's to come.
In no particular order:
1. Envelope pillow covers for 2 couch cushions
2. Succulent indoor plant potting
3. Set of six table napkins
4. Hanging peg board pots/pans rack (via Design*Sponge at Home)
5. Wire hanging photo frame
6. String lights (via BUST DIY Guide to Life)
7. Sand and restain wood furniture
8. Spray paint wood furniture
9. Honeycomb shelves
10. Hand printed tea towels
11. Sharpie mug set
12. Hanging air plants
13. Change the legs on my hutch
14. Paint art for the bathroom
15. Key hooks for the front door
And for now, we'll leave it at that. Some of these projects are directly inspired from some awesome DIY bloggers, which I have linked to appropriately.
